Q&A’S

  • When can I apply to be an exhibitor and where?

July 1st to 20th. The application is located here on our website.

  • What happens if I don’t submit my Zine Cover photo ?

If you don’t submit a zine cover photo we just assume you changed your mind and didn’t or couldn’t follow through with your application.

  • How does the exhibitor selection process work?

Fully completed applications are a part of the selection process in an exhibitor lottery, to avoid picking one zine maker over another zine maker.

  • What are the Exhibitor Fees?

Fee details are included in confirmed exhibitor emails. Exhibitor fees may range between $25 to $45, depending event fees. We try every year to keep them as low as possible.

  • How do I know I’ve been selected as an exhibitor ?

After the application deadline is closed and applications have been reviewed, you will receive a ‘Confirmation Email’ inviting you to be an exhibitor. The email will include fee details and deadline.

  • When do I receive my Exhibitor Confirmation ?

Once the submission deadline for the exhibitor fee closes, we will send out all final confirmations. Thank you for your patience and being a part of this process.

  • What happens if I don’t submit my fee?

All confirmed applicants that do not complete the application process or submit exhibitor fee, forfeit their spot to those on the Standby List. Please let us know if you would like to be removed from the Confirmed Exhibitor list.

  • What time is exhibitor check-in ?

Exhibitor Check-In (both Saturday & Sunday) opens at 10:45am and closes promptly at 11:45am. Because we will be busy setting up we will not open check-in before 10:45am you’re more than welcome to start lining up along the designated check-in area. Please use your registered EXHIBITOR NAME when checking-in. If you do not remember your exhibitor name, please visit our event web page where exhibitor names are listed.

  • Is the event indoors or outdoors ?

This years fest is indoors. Located in the Bread & Salt Brick Room, in Barrio Logan.

  • How does the exhibitor layout work ?

The exhibitor tables/spots are at a first come first serve basis. We’ve sectioned out the fest and set up the tables. Tables can only be reserved by the SD Zine Fest staff. Please do not sit (or remove) signs that read reserved, have a name or number on it. Thank you.

  • Are Tables & Chairs provided ?

Yes, table (6-8ft long, utility style folding tables) & folding chairs will be provided. All tables will host two exhibitor per table. All tables are shared due to capacity limitations. It’s been our policy year after year.

  • May I reserve the spot next to me for another exhibitor ?

Yes, you may do so during the day of the event at check-in. Please check in both exhibitor names and request a reserved sign. No need to email a request.

  • If the space next to me isn’t reserved or taken may I take it over for myself ?

No. People have a numerous amount of reasons for showing up late. It happens every year and it’s a great feeling for them when they show up and their space is still open for them. Also, it is not fair to other exhibitors. If someone takes a full table without SDZF consent, they will not be invited to exhibit again. Please be mindful, thank you.

  • Exhibitor Unloading:

We will be using the main entrance parking area to unload fest related needs. Please, please, please do not block the main driveway with parked cars. We have food vendors unloading major equipment, besides walking is good for you. Please make plans to get dropped off or pull up as near as possible. We are all trying to unload in a timely manner, please be mindful of others.

  • Parking:

The venue is located in a neighborhood with unmetered street parking.

FYI - The best street parking available is on Kearny Ave.. It’s a one way street so you’ll want to drive up (while on Julian) to S. Evans St, make a right and then another right onto Kearny Ave. There’s usually plenty of parking anywhere on the left side curb. Please read the posted signs to make sure you don’t get towed.
